Finding Gold in Colorado Historic Sites & Modern Prospecting Honey Holes

Epithermal Gold Deposits

Just ignore the fact that it purports to be about Newfoundland and Labrador!

Here is an amazingly good article on epithermal gold deposits. Highly relevant to Colorado because it explains the vast majority of our gold deposits. Of course, we also have volcanic deposits such as in Cripple Creek and Lake City areas, but the majority of our hard rock gold occurrences in the Colorado Gold Belt are epithermal in origin. Enjoy this deep dive into geology and remember “wherever there is hard rock gold, there will be placer gold there and downstream as well”!
