There’s not much metal detecting in Colorado for raw gold. I’d suggest staying at the Middle Fork RV resort right downstream of this site. They have virgin paydirt to dig and you MIGHT even find a nugget with that detector there. See my article on the resort…

Are there any areas to do both? I belong to the GPAA. I have my own 23′ travel trailer so would like to stay near the panning sites. Also, is there a seasonal open/close date for this area?
